Unicorn is to officially open its new salon and workshop in September.Announcing an exciting departure for the brand, founder and designer SophieRieu explained: “ Unicorn will have its own premises for the first time and will beright in the centre of Greystones, opposite the popular organic cafĂ© the HappyPear, in the heart of the ethical hub of Ireland.” The premises are on the groundfloor of a period corner building called Waverly on Church Rd, Greystones’buzzying main artery.The new workshop and showroom will double up as salon and Sophie is planning to offer styling services and made to measure designs as well as one-off piecesunavailable in shops stocking her seasonal ranges.Unicorn is also delighted to announce that from mid-July its Winter 2010collection will be stocked in leading boutiques such as Elaine Curtis in Carlow;Maven in Dublin 2; Passenger in Clifden; Belle boutique in Ashford; BernadetteElizabeth in Newry; Crowley Calnan in Bandon, Co Cork…and will also beexporting to leading ethical store Green in the City in the trendy area of the Maraisin Paris as well as to other boutiques in France, Japan and Germany.Winter 2010 features Unicorn’s signature timeless and slightly quirky styles madefrom rich heritage fabrics such as Irish Donegal and Kerry tweed and lambswool;Yorkshire-woven cashmere/lambswool blends; and luxurious silk satin inflamboyant fuschia and saffron hues.“This is tailoring with a quirky twist,” French designer Sophie Rieu explains. “ Acombination of functional elegance and relaxed originality suitable for work andsocial outings.”
