Nickys Rag Tales

Since last time we met Halloween has come and gone. The Yummie Tummie Press day has come and gone. Both of those events would seem to have nothing in common but in fact are marketing events with long-term business consequences. By this I mean that each event whether Halloween, Press Events and all things that promote either a product or event have ripple effects. One Press day has a knock on effect in terms of increased business and this is easy to calculate over a period of time. The big Press piece for Yummie Tummie with accompanying photographs of beautiful models looking sexy was the result of planning and happenstance. It turns out the fashion editor of the Indo and I are old school pals! Which leads me to offering a little advice to all boutiques and websites. Start your Christmas campaign right now. It’s not enough to think you will get carried along on the good tide by just being open for business. Retailers can’t drag customers in from the street, they need to build and maintain loyal customer followings. Our leading stores are already in full pre Christmas swing and a little birdie tells me that Grafton Street’s most famous windows will be decked out in within the next week. As people are spending more carefully it’s time to let them plan ahead this year. So, get your thinking caps on and start planning your Christmas windows or in the case of websites, competitions and marketing schemes. Keep in touch with your customers. Boutiques should perhaps go back to the old ‘Christmas Club’ schemes of old. Find new tag lines; get your FB pages whistling with all the bells ringing. Ready, set, go…..

Have a fashionable week ahead….
