Style Fish runs Ireland’s first dedicated Fashion School for women, offering a fun, interactive and extremely practical 7 Week Style Programme for women throughout Ireland. Style Fish courses cover everything a girl needs to know to look and feel her best; from understanding your body shape and your colours, to make-up lessons and hair styling - Helping you to build wardrobe capsules, style your outfits like a pro & to inject new life overall in your make-up, hair & dressing routines!

Style Fish teaches women to develop their own style, and most importantly saves them money on the wrong and often costly choices! A recent Style Fish graduate said “Style Fish truly demystified the whole shopping experience for me. I have received so many comments from others; I have finally escaped my style rut & feel like a celebrity just leaving the house in the morning!. A million thank you’s! You have truly transformed me!” While the clothes we wear will never make us who we are; what we wear and how we feel in our clothes has a huge affect on our self-confidence, and that helps make us who we are.

Set up earlier this year by qualified style coach, Julie Cobbe, Style Fish aims to make that ‘stylish’ feeling accessible to women everywhere no matter what their lifestyle or budget. Julie says “You don’t have to spend a huge amount of money on personal shoppers & consultations, Style Fish is simple, cost effective, fun and it will give you everything you need to totally transform how you feel about yourself and your style. On completion of our 7 week course, all the “students” will graduate as ‘Stylish Fish’, guaranteed.”

Every woman is unique, so each Style Fish class is fully personalised for every class member; who will receive a completely Personalised Style Fish Folder of specialised handouts, information and tips; a one-to-one body shape and colour consultation; as well as fantastic offers, discounts and deals with their very own Exclusive Style Fish Membership Card, to use when they want on what they want! Everything Style Fish does is tailor made, will save you money, and it’s all done in an inspirational and fun class setting!

Style Fish is not about buying more clothes, it’s about understanding what suits you & what doesn’t, how to put together the clothes you have and how to get away from that all too familiar ‘I’ve nothing to wear’ Syndrome. Without mentioning the dreaded ‘R’ word, Style Fish will show that it’s not money that makes a girl stylish, its understanding. Christian Dior once said “It’s not money that makes you well dressed, it’s understanding.”

Style Fish courses cost €299. Summer courses are starting the first week in May in Dublin, Cork, Kilkenny, Laois. Check out www.stylefish.ie for all class dates and details, or call Julie on (087) 4130336 or email julie@stylefish.ie for more information.

Rowena Doyle: Visual Merchandiser

We caught up with Rowena Doyle from Visual Sense and she told us a bit about herself and exactly what a visual merchandiser does

I have worked in visual merchandising for the past ten years, i have worked with Arnotts, Jack and Jones and more recently David Jones in Sydney.

I have trained as a commercial merchandiser so for me the only reason to focus on this area is to maximise profit. I focus on areas such as product placement, windows, signage, pricing, in store visual merchandising and floor layout. All of these area have a huge impact on how people shop in a store, my favourite phrase to use is "keep it simple and don't over dress it"

I work with retailers in a different way to a Display person or window dresser, i don't focus to much on props and making things look pretty although i am very creative i really focus more on how i can get more customers into the shop and when they come in how to persuade them to really want to spend money as the more simple you make it, the better return you will have. I also offer an after care service, where i keep in touch with all cleints to offer them further advise.

I have worked with boutiques, including New moon in Dublin, Beri boutique in killkenny, coze di roze in cabinteely and more recently i opened the shop sheneil shoes in galway. I will be doing a class with this shop mods and mini in killarney in 2 weeks for all the staff there teaching them in store merchandising.

Single

Confident. Sexy. Feminine. Fabulous!

LA-based Single offers a sophisticated high-end collection of beautiful printed silk dresses and flowing tops - easy-to-wear pieces with flattering shapes that are simple to put together for a polished and glamorous look.

The collection is highly distinctive, featuring one-of-a-kind prints developed from original artwork in collaboration with studios in Italy and France.

Single is an unapologetic stand for the individuality of style and confidence. Co-founded by GALINA SOBOLEV and MICHAEL SOBOLEV, Single was conceived to reaffirm every woman's zest for life, romance and luxury.

Fashion and style run deep in Galina's blood. As a child in her native Russia, Galina learned how to sew and crochet from her grandmother, a well respected dressmaker who had her own atelier, just steps away from the Opera House, in a glitzy neighborhood in Odessa. Even today, Galina cites this as a profound influence in her life, recalling the supple garments and colorful fabrics she used to play with.

In 1977 her family moved to New York. A few years later Galina enrolled at the Fashion Institute of Technology. She participated in the school's exchange program which enabled her to spend a year and a half in England to study knitwear. Upon her return to the U.S., she earned two awards from FIT for her graduating collection. During this time, she also got into modeling, walking the New York runways alongside Pat Cleveland and Iman for such designers as Michael Kors and Michael Vollbracht. This phase in her life was equally inspirational as she experienced the glamour of club life at New York¹s hotspots such as Studio 54, Xenon, Limelight and Danceteria. Following her modeling stint Galina returned to design and worked for a manufacturer who produced exclusive knitwear for Marc Jacobs and others.

Galina moved to Los Angeles in 1987 where she continued to work in fashion, designing for several well known fashion lines. But it was her meeting with her future husband Michael Sobolev, in what she describes as a fairytale-like situation on Christmas Eve of 1992 that truly changed her life. The couple proved to be such a great match that they extended their personal relationship to include a professional one. Michael's entrepreneurial skills and MBA degree together with Galina's talent made a perfect formula for starting a company of their own. They started in 1994, with Michael taking the business end while Galina focused on the creative aspect of designing gorgeous printed silk chiffon dresses. Two years into the venture, major stores such as Saks Fifth Avenue and Fred Segal picked up the line, and, based on their overwhelming reactions to her designs, Galina and Michael decided to streamline the collection into a label they named Single.

Single offers the very latest in fashion trends with a fresh and unique interpretation. Combining classic luxury with an exuberant attitude, Single is fabulous fun in lavish fabrics, from delicate silks to the softest cashmeres. Its one-of-a-kind prints are developed from original artwork, in coordination with art studios in Italy and France. When you wear Single, you possess an optimistic outlook and a strong sense of self.
