Get the Look with Makeup artist Roisin Derrane.

Wedding day makeup should be flawless yet striking, but always aim to look like yourself at your most beautiful. Whether you are hiring a professional or doing your own, choosing the right products for your skin tone and individual features will get you looking great throughout the day with minimum touch ups.
Prep Skin: I love lightweight moisturisers as they hydrate and absorb quickly. Always apply your regular moisturiser as early as possible, then before applying your primer use a small amount of Serum to smooth, I like Smooth- 365(available in Boots) a silicon- rich formula that smoothes out skin tone and blurs fine lines. Primer should be applied just before your foundation. Smashbox Photo Finish primer fills in fine lines and pores to help skin appear visibly smoother; it also seals in moisturiser, so your foundation will stay on for longer. Foundation,. Skin tones vary and so should your choice of foundation, whether you like a lightweight or a full coverage. Their are lots of great choices to try. LIGHT COVERAGE: While other illuminating foundations have made our skin glow, Chanel’s Teint Lift deposits radiance without any patchiness, and doesn’t melt off by midday. MEDIUM COVERAGE: Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay in Place makeup, This stays in place all day, and it does provide an opaque coverage. I recommend using this for a classic winter look, with well groomed brows, liquid liner and statement lips. Use this over a Primer and apply with a foundation brush, press or dab product into skin with brush along center of face and blend outwards to hairline. Oil Free: Make Up Forever HD invisible cover foundation feels as thin as a serum but gives you fantastic coverage, its high pigment covers any redness or blotches and spreads so you don’t need a brush to blend. This comes in an impressive 25 shades,. Set all foundation with translucent loose powder to hold, always use a brush to apply for a less caked finish. To set your perfect base, try Clarins Fix’ Make-up mist, sprits all over the face to set.
Bronzing and Blushing: most skin benefit from a dusting of bronzer for that healthy glow and can also be used to shade. Try Guerlains Terracotta, a peach toned bronze, also Bobbi Brown do a great range. I love their Shimmer Brick bronzers and blushers. Simply apply with a large, soft brush starting just under the cheekbone and blend up towards the temple. Blend along forehead and bridge of nose. A bronzer creates a great base for your blusher, if your pale and tend to go red easily go for a pale pink (Smashbox, Soft Lights in Prism) and peach or bronze work’s on darker skin (Gingersnaps Blush Rush, Smashbox)
Eye Makeup: Matt eye shadows in neutral colours are a must to create that Smokey daytime look. I love two basic shades from Bobbi Brown, Taupe is fab blended along the lid and following the shape of crease, and used as a soft line along bottom lashes. Mahogony is one of my favourite’s shades to get depth along crease line, use an eye blender brush (Mac 255) to soften colour, blending up towards eyebrow. Use same colour to fill in eyebrows with a small angular brush. The secret to achieving a really professional finish is by layering on eye shadows. Start with your mid colour, apply along lid and, then your darkest colour on crease line but flick it up and out at outer lash line. Blend all together with an eye blending brush. Use your mid colour to get that smudged look along bottom lashes. Finish your eye shading with a lighter colour to brighten it up. You can’t go wrong with a shimmer colour, I never tire of the Estee Lauders colour cubes, try Vanilla on inner corners and as a brow highlighter. Then dab some Gingersnap colour cube along upper lid. Check your eyebrows are groomed, make sure any strays are tweezed especially under eyebrow arch. Waterproof mascara is great to coat lashes and hold mascara on all day, but to achieve thickness and volume go with a regular mascara first. False lashes are excellent for that doe eyed look, and you can get lots of styles, try R.M.K in Dundrum shopping centre or One Lash Bar in Powerscourt shopping center for a fantastic range to suit all.
Lips: This Smokey Day look focuses on the eyes rather than the lips, so choose a sheer berry or nude pink-toned for a natural shimmer. Dab some concealer along lips to lighten and define, set with a dusting of translucent powder. Line lips with a nude coloured liner starting from outer corner in towards middle, do same on bottom line. if your using a sheer or creamy fomula, just apply directly, no need for lip rush. Sheer formulas will need to be reapplied more often but look great. Try Chanel Levres Scintillates in 167 for the perfect gloss; also I love Clarins new Sheer Tint in Frosted Peach, great applied directly from the tube for a soft finish.
