Glasswork Studios

Recently Launched in March 2010, Glassworks Studios (www.glassworks-studios.com) is a new online fashion and lifestyle boutique, providing a savvy edit of the world’s best contemporary fashion collections as well as travel and design inspiration. The site is the brainchild of Lauren Lewis, who envisioned a stylish, forward-thinking online boutique aimed at time-conscious, professional women while working as an investment banker in New York, Tokyo, London and Dubai. She partnered with Damien Paul – former fashion buyer for Harvey Nichols UK and Dubai – to create a website focused on style, quality and service. We Love It, Fresh and easy to use a big thumbs up. Brands include Erin Klienberg, Gryphon, Loeffler Randall with the following new brands to join the portfolio for Fall 10 include established Sass & Bide, Markus Lupfer, Preen Line and Camilla & Marc to name a few. They are also introducing some amazing fresh talent from New York and Europe. Jonathan Simkhai (NY) was named as a future talent to watch on WWD last week and Clarissa Labin (Belgium) has worked for Dior and H&M - both great new collections bound to create a storm.

Dedicated to keeping up with the fast-paced world of fashion, the launch portfolio pioneers a mix of fresh and established contemporary brands. Ready-to-wear pieces from Karen Walker blend beautifully with collections from emerging New York talents Erin Kleinberg and Gryphon, whilst Loeffler Randall provides feminine tailoring to bring a little luxury into the workplace. Brit designer Olivia Rubin’s bold graphic prints add a London edge and Sass & Bide injects that all important sex appeal.

A sleek, sophisticated online environment emulating the atmosphere of high-end speciality boutiques sets the background for the distinctive blend of collections while perfectly complimenting the stylish editorial content featuring chic international locations, hotels, art and design.

“We are really excited to launch Glassworks Studios and cater to women who want to shop in a chic environment with thoughtful pricing, something difficult to find in the flooded luxury and high street domains. The visually stimulating setting offers an ideal backdrop for women like you and me, who earn their own money and want to shop somewhere that considers their wardrobe and lifestyle needs. By cherry picking the best contemporary collections and offering them in a space that balances escapism with practical and engaging editorial, we hope to become a trusted go-to destination, especially as we double the size of the portfolio coming into Fall/Winter 2010.”

Lauren Lewis, Founder and CEO

GLASSWORKS STUDIOS EXCLUSIVE COLLECTIONS:

Glassworks Studios has also secured a host of UK exclusives – the complete Erin Kleinberg collection (look out for the Spring/Summer 10 lookbook modelled by Chanel brand ambassador and New York socialite Vanessa Traina), the Loeffler Randall ready-to-wear collection and the complete Riller & Fount collection (the new jersey line from global denim powerhouse J Brand) as well as the UK online exclusive for Gryphon.

Erin Kleinberg

In 2008, Canadian designer Erin Kleinberg launched a collection of semi-couture tanks, tees, cardigans and novelty pieces, aiming to provide women with luxury and comfort. She has achieved her vision and continues to design pieces in the sexy yet understated look she is now known for, using eco-friendly fabrics, hand sewn beading and delicate embellishments. Counting several New York socialites and Hollywood starlets as vocal fans (who also make press-worthy appearances in her look books), this young designer is one to watch. Gryphon

New York-based label Gryphon is the brainchild of former Vogue fashion writer Aimee Cho, whose inspiration for the brand centred on reinterpreting the classic trench. After winning over Anna Wintour (she can be spotted in the film The September Issue wearing a Gryphon trench), Cho expanded her offer to a full line of ready-to-wear. She focuses on heavy embellishment and unexpected detail to achieve Gryphon’s signature eclectic look – a seamless mix of tough and pretty. Loeffler Randall

Inspired as a child by her stylish grandmother’s chic, understated aesthetic, designer Jessie Randall launched Loeffler Randall with a footwear collection in 2005 calling upon her grandmother’s timeless style in her designs. Loeffler Randall quickly grew, adding ready-to-wear and accessories lines to the strong shoe offering. This New York designer’s collections epitomise cool sophistication, which has earned her many fashion editor and celebrity fans. Your browser may not support display of this image. Riller & Fount

In March 2007, Susie Crippen – the creative director and co-founder of J Brand – partnered with her friend, fashion designer Marlena Ruiz to establish California-based Riller & Fount. The collection embodies feminine silhouettes, classic lines, the softest of fabrics and subtle colour palettes. Offering a host of sexy, polished styles that easily translate from day to night, the label is sure to be a favourite for women on the go.
